About this event

The ARC Kathleen Fitzpatrick Laureate Fellowship provides funding for annual mentoring events and activities to encourage young researchers to pursue careers in the social sciences. Professor Janeen Baxter will host the 2026 International Researcher in Residence School at The University of Queensland.

The 2026 international researcher-in-residence, Professor Anette Fasang, an expert in social demography, comparative life course sociology, welfare states and qualitative and quantitative longitudinal data analysis, will lead three days of seminars/lectures, discussions, and networking.

The final day of the school will include a career journey discussion panel facilitated by Professor Janeen Baxter and include esteemed colleagues from the academe, industry and government.


Expressions of Interest

Expressions of interest are open to early career researchers and third-year higher-degree research students for a career mentoring and networking 3-day school at The University of Queensland.

Who should register their interest?

The workshop is open to participants interested in learning about life course approaches to social disadvantage and who would value the opportunity to build international connections, spend time with peers and participate in mentoring sessions with a panel of international experts.

Some funding is available to assist with travel and accommodation expenses (AU travel only).
